Education

In the Irish Loop we take pride in the education of our young people and in providing lifelong learning opportunities for all residents in safe and healthy environments.

For children and youth, the education system within the Irish Loop is governed by Newfoundland and Labrador's Department of Education, which provides free education to all students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, including those with special needs. Our class sizes are small compared to urban areas and as a result have a low student-teacher ratio. Bus service is provided for all children who live more than 1.6 km from the school. The school year starts in early September and ends in late June, with breaks during Christmas and Easter.

For adult learners, nearby St. John's is home to the largest university in Atlantic Canada, a publicly-funded college, and several private training colleges. Together, these institutions offer a full range of world-class arts and sciences courses, professional and apprenticeship programs, skills and career training, and an extensive list of distance learning opportunities.
