The amalgamated town of St. Vincent's – St. Stephen's – Peter's River is in fact comprised of three adjacent settlements located along an impressive 5 kilometer stretch of cobblestone beach. The deep waters here allow for unparalleled whale watching opportunities as these magnificent creatures cruise up and down the beach just meters from the shore.

The history of the area dates back to the early 16th century when French and Portuguese fishermen visited in pursuit of the abundant cod stocks located just offshore. The generations that followed benefited greatly from this resource as well and as a result the local culture and traditions reflect this strong fishing legacy.

In addition to the impressive beach, the town is also home to a peaceful winding river and the remarkable Holyrood Pond, a land locked 21 km lake that offers a unique ecosystem of salt and fresh water with 33 species of fish.
